Mark does a good job of creating an inescapable contradiction for rational people who listen to the likes of Joel. His application of Joel's principles to the life of Christ is masterful. I will be using his quote "We must leave room for God in our concept of the good life". Clearly there is something wrong with our concept of the good life if Jesus did not get a chance to participate in it.
